LEBANESE IMPORTER RECEIVES PRIMADUTA AWARD
“The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Beirut stands ready to provide assistances with the aim to strengthen trade cooperation between Indonesia and Lebanon,” said Indonesian Ambassador to Lebanon, Hajriyanto Y. Thohari during the handover of Primaduta Award to Lebanese businessman and importer, George R. Fattouh at the Embassy in Beirut on 11 January 2024.
George R. Fattouh is the owner of Lebanese company, George R. Fattouh S.A.L., that has imported various products from Indonesia since 1980s such as palm oil and derivatives, oil and fats (cocoa butter replacer and substitute, spread fat, hydrogenated palm kernel oil, lauric confectionery fats), cardboard, stationeries and school equipment. Some of the Indonesian products are currently available at the popular supermarket chain such as Spinney’s dan Carrefour.
In 2022, imports of Indonesian products by George R. Fattouh S.A.L. amounted to USD 981,333,800, an increase compared to the total import in 2021 of USD 831,877,440.
During the handover, Indonesian Ambassador conveyed his appreciation to the ongoing cooperation between George R. Fattouh S.A.L. and Indonesian companies. It is expected that the cooperation will further improve in the future.
George R. Fattouh mentioned that there is a high interest towards Indonesian high quality products. Currently, due to regional security condition, the freight cost for imports from Indonesia is high. In this relation, George R. Fattouh has to suspend the import of several products from Indonesia and source the said products from European countries instead.
Aside from that, George R. Fattouh also conveyed his request that the Indonesian Government could assist Lebanese businessmen in form of ease of travel to Indonesia, particularly the visa matter.

قال السفير الإندونيسي في لبنان، هاجريانتو يو ثوهاري، أثناء تسليم جائزة بريمادوتا لرجل الأعمال والمستورد اللبناني: “إن سفارة جمهورية إندونيسيا في بيروت على استعداد لتقديم المساعدة بهدف تعزيز التعاون التجاري بين إندونيسيا ولبنان”. جورج ر. فتوح في السفارة في بيروت في 11 كانون الثاني/يناير 2024.
جورج ر. فتوح هو مالك شركة جورج ر. فتوح ش.م.ل.، التي استوردت منتجات مختلفة من إندونيسيا منذ الثمانينات مثل زيت النخيل ومشتقاته، والزيوت والدهون (بديل زبدة الكاكاو، والدهون القابلة للدهن، وزيت نواة النخيل المهدرج). ، دهون الحلويات اللوريكية)، الورق المقوى، القرطاسية والمعدات المدرسية. بعض المنتجات الإندونيسية متوفرة حاليًا في سلسلة المتاجر الكبرى الشهيرة مثل Spinney’s dan Carrefour.
